I am all about trying new things, so I have downloaded Chrome and I am going through the motions with it. So far I am seeing nothing out of the ordinary.
I like the fact that it automatically brought in all my bookmarks/favorite places. It uses the typical tabbed browsing that I hope we are all familiar with and know how to use. I am not fond of the fact that there are no "working words" along the top: File, Edit View... You have to click on the page Icon to the right of the address bar to access the print feature. There are not too many options to change up the dynamics of how you use the program. The typical setting of the home page, setting the default browser and search. A new and different kind of thing is the option to open several web pages at once on start up. I guess that feature is for the super multi tasker who wants to go through all their favorite sites and check everything out at once. It is a pretty bar bones browser and does the job of surfing the net, but I still love Firefox. There are so many great plug-ins and add-ons that I truely love to use I feel lost without using them in Chrome. FoxMarks is one I love about Firefox. I have 3 computers and keeping up with favorites and all your bookmarks can be a hassle - but not with this special plug-in. You are able to sync up your favorites to each Firefox that has the plugin. So lets say I add a new favorite to my PC Vista Firefox, the next time I open my Firefox on my mac it loads the favorites automatically - since I have the Foxmarks on the mac as well. You create an account with a username and password and all your bookmarks are stored on Foxmarks site. Once you make a change it update all your other instances of Firefox. As well as all the other wizz-bang plugins like Forecast Fox that constantly updates weather conditions and sends you alerts as small pop-ups in the lower right corner. They are still working on a mac version. |
